Frequently Asked Questions

Glass Experience vs Glassblowing Class

We called our program a Glass Experience rather than a Glassblowing Class for a couple of reasons. Foremost, an hour of supervised glassblowing is not going to turn you into a glassblower, regardless of how talented you may be. So we’re not trying to teach you glassblowing, we focus on you having an introductory experience to glassblowing. We also want you to be able to take home some glass work that you feel like using and displaying, so we make that part of our focus by helping when necessary. At the same time we’ll do our best to give you enough hands-on time so that you can rightfully say: I made this!

Is there a minimum age to participate ?

In our experience, young people are incredibly fascinated by glass and we encourage them to come to the studio. That said, we've found that 5 and up is generally best for our Glass Experiences. We also request the parents to be present.

Do I get to keep the pieces I make during a class ?

Of course you get to keep the pieces you make! But you'll have to let them cool down after the class and then pick them up the following day after 9 am. Or, we can ship them to you.

What do we get to make during a Glass Experience ?

You can see our menu of items, along with an explanation of the process here.

How many people can participate in a Glass Experience ?

A Glass Experience usually lasts for an hour and we recommend up to 3 people for that time. That way, all the options on our menu are available. If you have more people in your party, you can increase the duration by half hour increments.

Do you accept walk-ons ?

We do, based on availability of time and/or instructors. In order to guaranty you a slot, we’ll need you to make a reservation via phone or email.

How much in advance do I have to make a reservation ?

Most of the time, we’ll be able to find you a slot for the next day, frequently we can even fit you in the same day. However, we have peak times, usually around the holidays, during which we have limited slots available and therefore recommend making reservations further in advance.

Will you host special events ?

Sure! We're happy to arrange Glass Experiences for larger groups. In that scenario we usually run both of our glory holes, so two of you will be working at the same time, while the rest of the group can cheer them on. Contact us for more specific information.

Can you accommodate people with handicaps?

Yes we can! We frequently have people with autism as well as people with physical handicaps participate in our Glass Experiences. Contact us to find out more.

Do you ship ?

We do. We are always willing to wrap your pieces so you can safely take them as carry-on on the plane or in your car, but if you have too many pieces or no more space, we can ship your pieces and/or any pieces you purchase from our shop for an additional fee.

Do you accept special commissions ?

Certainly. We're always happy to discuss your ideas and to create unique, custom tailored pieces at a reasonable cost. Let us know what you’re looking for!

Can we just come watch you blow glass ?

Absolutely! We are open 7 days a week, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day, 9 am to 6 pm. Stop by any time and you’ll have a chance to either watch a Glass Experience in progress, see us blow some of our shop production, or have our artists work on their personal pieces.
